Each participant is required to complete a two hour safety training course before being allowed on the firing range. This course is aimed at developing the discipline and habits required for the safe handling of firearms and archery equipment. The safety training course is a yearly requirement which all shooting sports participants have to complete, regardless of their past experience and involvement with the 4H Shooting Sports program. The course is presented by training instructors through the use of a power point presentation, videos developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation and personal experience in the use of firearms. Although the safety rules are written from the standpoint of firearms use, they are also related to the discipline of archery. You may review the power point presentation and watch the videos by clicking on the links at the bottom of the page.
The safety training class will be taught on the dates shown on the schedule.
